Dr. Matthew H. Kopera, MD, is a board-certified general orthopedic surgeon. With a 20+ year career, Dr. Kopera has extensive skill and experience in knee and hip replacement, arthroscopy, shoulder surgery, orthopedic trauma, general orthopedics, as well as alternative/non-operative treatments such as platelet-rich plasma and viscosupplementation for osteoarthritis. Dr. Kopera’s professional associations include: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the Michigan Orthopedic Society.

Dr. Kopera grew up in Troy, Michigan, and has lived the majority of his life in the great state of Michigan. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He then returned to Detroit where he earned both a master’s degree in biology and a doctorate of medicine (MD) at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Kopera completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Detroit Medical Center / Wayne State University School of Medicine.
